Propane Transfer Tower: First lasercut Craftsman Structure Kit by GLX Scale Models.
GLX Scale Models first introduced the Propane Transfer Tower, a craftsman structure kit, in 2013 with positive reviews from the model railroad craftsman community.
The PROPANE TRANSFER TOWER is the first craftsman structure kit produced in-house at GLX Scale Models. We packaged each kit with laser cut plates, piping and hoses to assemble 2 towers. The fully detailed colored instructions guide you through the assembly of this HO scale model. This kit is highly detailed and is targeted for the above average model railroad craftsman kit builder. It is a pleasure to build with a foot print fitting into your hands. Add a notch or two to your kit building experience.
The lasercut plates assemble easily with tacky white glue. Also, attach the hose details with AC glue to attach them to the tower structure. The kit includes a jig that you assemble to construct the stairs. By the way, we etched the stair treads for superior detailing. Also, the top deck of the tower has fine cuts to simulate the metal slats of the flooring.
Choose one of 4 options when considering the build to suit your facility: left or right hand stairs and also, orange drawbridge in the up or down position. In the above image, one tower has the stairs on the right while the other is on the left. Also noticeable in the images, each tower has the drawbridge in the up position as the module is used for operating sessions and the propane tankcars are regularly spotted in and out.
Model the Propane Transfer Towers for transferring propane or as some customers have commented they are also seen in fertilizer transfer facilities. The bulk goods are unloaded or transferred from the top of the rail tankcar.
Gilbert Lacroix modeled Superior Propane, Ottawa, ON, Canada, in the early 2000’s.
All in all, this model kit makes a fantastic addition to any high quality model railroad layout.
